Confused about what oil you should buy and what’s perfect for your ride? Luckily, we’re here to explain it all to simplify your lubrication requirements. Now I am sure you know where you want the oil to go (Gearbox, 2-stroke, 4-stroke etc), but there’s so many to choose from! The two personalities of oil that determine what makes it right for you is the type (mineral, semi-synthetic, full-synthetic) and the viscosity which is measured by the numbers on the oil (10W-40 etc).
Mineral oil is refined petroleum oil which undergoes treatment to perform across a wide temperature range and is fortified with other additives to comply with specific requirements. Mineral oils work well in everyday vehicles that are driven in conditions not too extreme. Mineral oil is generally most effective at a certain temperature and doesn’t lubricate as well outside of that temperature. Mineral oil is great for use in farm equipment, commuting scooters and other bikes that aren’t performance-oriented.
Semi-synthetic oils are a blend of synthetic oil and mineral oil. These oils perform better at a wider range of temperatures in comparison to mineral oil but not as well as fully-synthetic oils. Semi-synthetic oils are suited towards the rider and machine that seek the best product available within their reasonable price range. Semi-synthetic oil is excellent for slightly performance-oriented machines that are ridden enthusiastically, where a fully-synthetic oil is recommended semi-synthetic will do the job, just not as well.
Fully-synthetic oils are mineral oils that have been taken through a lab, broken down to their most basic molecules which removes any undesired substances and impurities creating a superior oil. Due to this process, fully-synthetic oils are often more expensive than their mineral and semi-synthetic counterparts. However, as in most cases, you pay for what you get. Fully-synthetic oils provide better lubrication in extremely cold and hot environments, evaporate less, have a lower smudge formation and provide better detergent properties. If you have a performance-oriented motorcycle, have an aggressive riding style or race your motorcycle fully-synthetic is made for you.
As a rule of thumb, all three types of oil are going to protect well at the start of their life and in their specified environment. However, it can be expected that fully-synthetic oil will protect better throughout its service life over semi-synthetic, which will protect better at the end compared to mineral oil. We highly recommend you replace your oil at the recommended intervals in any situation. And again, fully-synthetic oil will protect better in a wider range of environments than semi-synthetic, which is better than mineral.
Now it gets tricky, we’ve all wondered what those numbers on your oil mean at some point in time haven’t we? Simply, the numbers reflect the oil’s viscosity. Viscosity is a measure of the resistance of a fluids flow, or in simple terms how thick the oil is. Oils with higher viscosity are thicker and will flow more slowly compared to those with a smaller viscosity. Oils these days are commonly multi-grades which means the oil has two viscosity grades, for example, 10W-40. The W stands for Winter and determines the oil’s viscosity when cold where the 40 is the oil’s viscosity when heated. The lower the W number the better the oils cold performance. Your motorcycle engine and gearbox oil will have a recommended viscosity set by the manufacturer, we recommend sticking to their suggestion.
4-Stroke Engine Oil:
ATV Farmer is the perfect low cost and effective engine oil for 4-stroke farming equipment. This premium quality base oil is combined with carefully selected additives to offer excellent lubricating properties. ATV Farmer is offered as a 15W-40 oil in both 1L and 4L options.
Putoline’s genuine V-Twin motorcycle oil is an SAE 50 mineral, mono-grade engine oil. Ultimate Racing Brake Fluid is a highly exclusive brake fluid. The extremely high dry and wet boiling point prevent gas bubble formation and brake fade, even under extreme braking forces. The product eliminates the spongy feel in the brake lever and improves braking reaction time. Ultimate Racing Brake Fluid has been specially developed for competition purposes and is also suitable for ABS systems. The high-grade formulation far exceeds the DOT 5.1 specification. Putoline’s URBF can be used where a DOT 4 is specified by the manufacturer.
DOT 5 Silicone
DOT 5 Silicone Brake Fluid is a silicone-based brake fluid. It has a wide temperature range from -40°C to over + 260°C and ensures the optimal functioning of the brake system. The product extends the service life of the brake system and does not affect varnish or paint. DOT 5 Silicone Brake Fluid can be used safely in hydraulic brake and clutch systems on (race) motorcycles and karts provided they have seals that are resistant to a silicon brake fluid. DOT 5 brake fluid is silicone based and cannot be missed with synthetic brake fluids (DOT 3, 4 and 5.1).

Putoline’s Hydraulic Clutch Fluid is a specially designed mineral fluid for hydraulic clutches. The fluid protects against wear and oxidation and is suitable for Magura and other makes of hydraulic clutches.

SP12 Anti-Freeze Concentrate
Ready-mixed and optimized for long life SP12 is a premium high-grade motorcycle coolant. SP12 is specially developed for cooling systems made from aluminium and copper or aluminium alloys and can also be used safely in conventional cast iron cooling systems. Powerful corrosion inhibitors leave the coolant practically unaffected by ageing and can be used for the entire service life of your engine. Available in a 20L container, note that SP12 is a concentrate and will require mixing with water at the correct ratio before use.
Coolant NF is a ready-mixed organic coolant. Due to its anti-corrosion additives, Coolant NF provides excellent protection for all metals including aluminium and magnesium. The anti-freeze properties provide protection to -38-degrees. Coolant NF is compatible with off-road and road motorcycles along with scooters, quads and snowmobiles.
Putoline’s Octane Booster increases the RON octane rating of both lead-free and leaded petrol. This has a positive effect on engine performance. It also reduces the risk of detonation in the engine and provides a protective layer on the valve seatings with less risk of costly engine damage. Octane Booster is great for performance engines that require high-performance fuel, especially 2-stroke motorcycles.
Fuel Conditioner is an advanced protection product for fuel systems. It is harmless to any catalytic converter and has no components that contain chlorine. Fuel Conditioner dissolves deposits in the carburettor, injectors, valves and combustion chamber as well as neutralising condensed water to prevent precipitation in the fuel tank.
If you’re parking your ride up for extended periods of time it is recommended to add fuel stabilizer to the fuel, over time fuel will oxidize in the tank which can be harmful to your engine. It isn’t recommended to empty your tank as the seals can dry up and crack. Fuel stabilizer prevents oxidization in your tank ensuring a quick and easy return to your motorcycle after your break.
Injector & Valve Cleaner
Fuel Injector & Valve Cleaner is a professional petrol additive for all 2 and 4-stroke petrol engines. The cleaner is designed to remove deposits from the entire fuel system improving engine reliability and performance.
Ceramic Grease is a particularly especially high-grade assembly paste and high-temperature lubricant grease without metal particles. Its unique formulation makes it great for use in high-temperature applications such as ABS components, brake components, spark plugs, exhaust components and lambda sensors.
EP2 Racing Grease
Racing Grease is a special, EP2, lithium complex grease. The product is of the highest quality and has excellent mechanical stability. Its fine structure will not allow oil separation. Racing Grease is water resistant and fully suited to race applications. Available in a 100g tube or 600g tub.
White Action Grease
The universal lithium complex grease is highly suited for use as a sealant between the Action Filter and the air-filter housing on all Off-Road motorcycles. White Action Grease + PTFE is also excellent for lubricating wheel bearings, handlebar and swingarm bearings on all Off-road and Road motorcycles, quads, scooters, karts and snowmobiles. Available in a 100g tube or 600g tub.
Put Off Bike Cleaner
Put Off Bike Cleaner is a super-efficient all-purpose cleaner for motorcycles, quads, bicycles, etc. The concentrated formula, which includes Nano Tech components, provides safe and powerful cleaning along with long-lasting protection. Put-Off can also be used on delicate surfaces such as magnesium, anodised elements and aluminium while also preventing dirt adhering. Cannot be used on unprotected reflective surfaces. Available in a 1L trigger spray bottle and 5L top-up bottle.
Putoline’s range of hand cleaners are perfect for removal of all heavy dirt, oil, grease, lubricants, brake fluid and everything else that ends up all over your hands when working in the garage. Great for keeping the wife happy by preventing grimy fingerprints throughout the house!
Leather Wax is a premium protective for leatherware. It vitalises and protects all types of leather: coloured or natural, old or new. Apply to boots, gloves, jackets and race-leathers using a brush, sponge or cloth. Then heat with a hairdryer and allow to penetrate the leather. The best care your leather can receive improving its look, quality and life.
DryTec Chain Spray
Drytec is a special PTFE chain lubricant. This dry and well-adhering product penetrates deep inside the chain. It leaves a clear and non-sticky protective layer meaning that dirt and salt cannot stick to the chain. Regular use reduces friction, preventing premature wear, and it is clean in use. Drytec is suitable for standard, O-ring and X-ring chains on road and race motorcycles.
DX11 Chain Spray
DX11 Chain Spray is a synthetic chain lubricant. The unique, water-repellent formulation penetrates deep into the chain links and leaves a protective layer. DX11 is super adhesive and is non-fling. It provides perfect protection against corrosion and wear, reduces friction, and is clean in use. DX 11 Chain Spray is suitable for high-performance levels in open, O-ring and X-ring chains on Road and Off-Road motorcycles.
O/X-Ring Chain Spray
Specifically designed for the lubrication of non-ring and ring chains the special formulation provides effective resistance to high temperatures and is penetrative and moisture repellent. The O/X-ring chain spray is suitable for all ringed chains and won’t cause the rings to disintegrate.
Chain Wax Tin
Putoline’s Chain Wax tin is a traditional chain lubricant for non-ring chains. By soaking your chain in the wax after heating the wax penetrates deep into the chain links providing excellent lubrication for non-ring chains. Not suitable for use with ringed chains as the wax will damage the rings causing them to degrade.
Tech Chain Ceramic Wax
Designed as an all-round wax-based chain lube the Putoline Tech Chain spray consists of a unique wax formula combined with sophisticated additives, including PTFE. Tech Chain provides optimal protection to the chain under all operating conditions. Suitable for sporting and professional use on both O-ring and MX chains. Offered in a 100ml and 500ml aerosol can.
RS1 Wax Polish Spray
RS1 Wax Polish Spray is a cleaner with carnauba wax that is designed to create a protective layer with a long-lasting deep shine on all painted surfaces. The spray can be used on all aluminium, carbon, titanium and painted components on helmets, quads, scooters, karts, bicycles, snowmobiles, jet-ski’s, road and off-road motorcycles.
Matt Wax is designed to provide excellent protection as well as intensifying the original colour of matt paint, metal, aluminium, titanium, carbon and plastic. The water-based wax is safe to use and won’t damage your or your motorcycle.
Putoline’s Carb Cleaner removes paint and rubber deposits from choke valves, throttle needles and jets which eliminates uneven idling and cutting-out as well as restoring engine efficiency. Carb cleaner can be used on any carburettor and injection cleaners and is formulated with a complex blend of special solvents.
Chain & Engine Degreaser
Chain & Engine Degreaser has been specially developed for motorcycle use. The unique, fast-acting formula removes oil and grease from all dirty parts, including the chain, gears, engine, frame and all other parts of the motorcycle.
